Cornish Hill Swimventure
Thursday 25th June – 6pm
The Cornish Hill Swimventure offers a true taste of the rugged Galloway Hills, combining a rewarding hill climb, vast open views and a refreshing loch swim in a stunning, remote setting.
We’ll climb steadily out of the forest onto Cornish Hill, where the landscape opens up to far-reaching views across Ayrshire, stretching to the peaks of Arran and the rolling hills of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn, Shalloch on Minnoch and the mighty Merrick.
The route includes long, steep slopes of up to 500m, firm gravel and earth paths, along with rough rocky sections, occasional muddy patches, narrow bridges and a short section along the road. The summit of Cornish Hill sits at 1,532 feet (467m) and is well worth the climb for the breathtaking views.
As we descend, we’ll pause at beautiful Cornish Loch for a well-earned wild swim or dip. It’s a peaceful spot to rest, enjoy a picnic and soak up the surroundings before continuing, keeping an eye out for waterfalls along the Water of Girvan.
This Swimventure is perfect for those who love a challenge, big landscapes and the joy of cold water in a supportive, welcoming group.
